First Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Tsekov held a meeting on the issue of creating a new anthem of the Republic of Crimea. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea Mikhail Nazarov, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Alla Ponomarenko, members of the Presidium of the Crimean Parliament, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, deputies, representatives of the Crimean Federal University, as well as the editor-in-chief of Crimean Pravda Mikhail Bakharev.
The initiative to update the symbols of the Republic, namely the creation of a new anthem, belongs to the leadership of Crimea.
The current anthem was written by the outstanding composer Alemdar Karamanov and the Crimean poetess, State Prize laureate Olga Golubeva. It played its historical role, but, for obvious and natural reasons, the anthem does not reflect new realities— noted earlier the head of parliament Vladimir Konstantinov.
According to Sergei Tsekov, the current anthem, created during the period when Crimea was part of Ukraine, does not fully reflect the historical heroism, courage and patriotism of the Crimeans. The great events of the Crimean Spring and the reunification of Crimea with Russia are also not reflected.
As a result of the meeting, it was decided to create a commission to develop the anthem and organize a creative competition, the regulations for which were entrusted to be prepared by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea and the relevant committee of the State Council.
Let us recall that the Anthem of Crimea was approved by a resolution of the republican parliament (then the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea) on October 18, 2000 and confirmed by the law of the Republic of Crimea on June 5, 2014. Composer — Alemdar Karamanov, author of the text — Olga Golubeva. The words of the anthem were chosen by a special commission, which included the author of the music. In total, more than 60 options were submitted to the competition. Let us recall the text of the anthem:
