The Crimean Peninsula is among the popular destinations for wine tourism in autumn
CrimeaPRESS reports:
November 12 was celebrated as wine tourism day. Even those who don’t like wine too much will agree that good wine from each region bears its imprint, its culture. Wine tourism allows you not only to taste wine, but also to see under what conditions it is produced and what traditions accompany winemaking.
In honor of Wine Tourism Day, the Russian vacation rental booking service TVIL.RU conducted a survey on social networks: which region for wine tourism does our subscribers prefer? Crimea was in first place, Krasnodar Territory was in second, and Dagestan was in third.
1. Crimea was chosen by 52% of voters. There are many wineries here — the Inkerman plant near the city of Sevastopol, and wineries on the South Coast, Novy Svet, Zolotaya Balka and others. Many of these businesses organize interesting excursions for tourists and locals.
2. In second place is the Krasnodar Territory, this is the choice of 33% of subscribers. Any wine is made here — dry, semi-dry, red, rose, white, sparkling and still. There are more than 50 wineries in the Krasnodar region, both large and small private farms.
3. In third place is Dagestan, which was chosen by 14% of voting participants. Tourists in Dagestan are taken to the Kizlyar Brandy Factory, to the Derbent Wine Company in the city of Derbent and to some private farms.
4. North Ossetia collected 10% of the votes. Winemaking in the republic is actively developing, special attention is paid to the autochthonous Caucasian variety “Elhot”, which was recently discovered by specialists.
5. 9% of voting participants voted for the Volgograd region. Winemaking here has a long tradition; today there are four wineries in the region, which you can tour over the weekend on a winemaking tour.
6. Stavropol Territory was chosen by 8% of subscribers. Viticulture has been developing here since the beginning of the 19th century; today the total area of vineyards exceeds 4,4 thousand hectares. More than 350 liters of local wine are sold every month.
7. Adygea was chosen by 5% of all voters. The republic is actively developing winemaking; this year more than 45 million rubles have been received for this development, and the area of vineyards will increase from 30 to 80 hectares.
8. Kabardino-Balkaria received 4% of the votes. Tourists here are taken to Chateau Erken, a Romanesque-style complex surrounded by acres of vineyards.
9. Rostov region was chosen by 2% of voters. In 18 farms in the region there is room for both unique autochthonous varieties and vines brought from the best European nurseries.
10. Samara region collected 1% of the votes. They say that this is not the best region for winemaking — and it is true that it has been developing in the region only recently. But, unlike the southern directions, the grapes here do not overripe and their acidity does not drop. And the warm Volga winds help the tender grapes grow. The Samara region is considered the northernmost region for winemaking in Russia.
