The Crimean prosecutor’s office approved criminal indictments against 10 residents of the region.
Depending on their role and degree of participation, they are charged under Art. 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (high treason), part 1 and part 2 of Art. 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of a terrorist community and participation in it), paragraphs “a” and “c”, part 2 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act), part 1 of Art. 30, paragraph “a”, part 2, art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (attempted terrorist act), part 3 of Art. 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of explosives, explosive devices), part 4 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, storage, carrying, transportation of explosives and explosive devices).
According to investigators, the accused collaborated with representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from February 2022 to June 2023. On whose instructions, they carried out an explosion at a transport infrastructure facility in the region, and also planned a series of terrorist attacks against high-ranking officials in the region.
In order to implement their plans, the accomplices illegally transported explosives and explosive devices to the Russian Federation, delivering them to the Republic of Crimea. They tracked the movements of those who were planning to commit an assassination attempt. Their illegal activities were stopped by employees of the Russian FSB Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol— reported the Crimean prosecutor’s office.
With the approved indictment, criminal cases will be sent to the Southern District Military Court for consideration on the merits.
