The Crimean Science Fiction Club met in Simferopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On July 27, a meeting of the Crimean Science Fiction Club was held in the Heidelberg Center, where the results of the 17th Krymkon were summed up and plans for the 18th Krymkon in 2025 were announced. It took place at the end of June and was dedicated to the memory of the founder of the festival and the Science Fiction Club, Valery Gaevsky, who left our world last year.

Traditionally, the opening ceremony of the Crimean Conference «Fandango» took place in the literary and memorial museum of Alexander Green (with the obligatory photo session of the science fiction team against the backdrop of Green’s panel «Brigantine»).

As the hostess, research fellow Alla Ermilova gave a welcoming speech. More than 30 people took part in the convention, who came not only from other cities of Crimea, but also from St. Petersburg, Anapa, Korolev, Lyubertsy, and the Tula region. From June 24 to 27, all the main events of the fantastic Feodosia festival took place on the territory of the summer site and in the conference hall of the tourist and health complex «Mayak».

The closing of «Krymkon 2024» took place in the Marina and Anastasia Tsvetaeva Museum. The main prize for the winners of the storytelling seminar «Fandango — Aelita» was a collection of works by Alexander Green.

For their contribution to the development of Crimean science fiction, the eight most distinguished members of the Science Fiction Club were awarded the Valery Gaevsky Medal for the first time.

A little about the Crimean science fiction club:

In 2003, Valery Anatolyevich Gaevsky gathered like-minded science fiction writers in the capital of Crimea and began to hold all-Crimean seminars «Fandango». The Crimean Science Fiction Club was created as an independent creative association of writers with the noble mission of discovering talented authors of the newest generation of the 21st century. In 2008 and 2009, the «Fandango» festival was held in Koktebel, which in 2010 and 2011 was already held in Sudak, and from 2012 to the present time «dropped anchor» in Feodosia.

For their contribution to the development and popularization of science fiction in Crimea, at a meeting in Simferopol on July 27, the current president of the Crimean Science Fiction Club «Fandango» and vice-president Nikolai Ostaptsov presented Vladimir Milgunov, Alexander Trunov and Vladimir Grachev with Gaevsky medals.

Eldar Sharbatov gave a talk on “Psychological Aspects of Art,” and writer Galina Malysheva spoke about the recent “Milky Way 2024” science fiction competition.

The next meeting of the Club will be held on the last Saturday of the month, August 31st at 2:00 pm.
