The Crimean Tatar Academic Theater was awarded a special prize at the International Festival “Swallow”

The Crimean Tatar State Academic Music and Drama Theater represented the Republic of Crimea at the first International Festival of National Theaters “Chĕkeҫ” (“Swallow”). The Republican Theater received a festival participant diploma, which was awarded to theater director Dinara Akhtemova, and a special jury prize for the vivid embodiment of national traditions in the play “The Bakhchisarai Fountain” based on the poem of the same name by Alexander Pushkin.

The Vera Kuzmina Festival, which took place in the city of Cheboksary, brought together seven national professional theaters from the regions of Russia and neighboring countries.

The festival jury, consisting of Ekaterina Morozova — chairman of the jury (theater expert, theater critic, candidate of art history, associate professor at the Russian Institute of Theater Arts (GITIS), teacher at the Higher School of Performing Arts, senior researcher at the State and Institute of Art History, expert at the National Theater Award «Golden Mask») , Aisylu Sagitova (theatre expert, theater critic, candidate of art history, associate professor of the department of history and theory of arts at the Ufa State Institute of Arts named after Z. Ismagilov) and Olga Turgai (Honored Worker of Culture of the Chuvash Republic, member of the Writers’ Union and the Union of Journalists of the Russian Federation, chief editor radio broadcasting services of State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company «Chuvashia») summed up the results of the festival, noting the winners in eight categories— said the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.

It is emphasized that the participation of the Crimean Tatar Theater in such an important theatrical event allowed not only to declare itself and represent Crimea, but also to get to know colleagues better, and learn more about the activities and creativity of other national theaters.

Along with the festival, the trip to Chuvashia was marked by a touring performance of the children’s play “The Arrogant Bunny” for the youngest connoisseurs of theatrical art in the city of Cheboksary.
