The Crimean traffic police reminds: a drunk driver is a criminal. Driving an electric scooter is no exception

While on duty supervising traffic, the traffic police of the Leninsky district stopped a 34-year-old local resident, the driver of a 600W Kugoo electric scooter, on one of the streets of the village of Mysovoye. During the conversation, the police officers found signs of intoxication in the man.
The driver was offered to undergo an examination at a medical institution, the results of the examination confirmed the man’s state of intoxication. Also, as a result of checking the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate databases, it was established that the driver had previously been held liable for a similar offense, and is considered deprived of the right to drive all types of vehicles— the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reported.
The Investigation Department of the OMVD of Russia for the Leninsky District opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or with a criminal record). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to two years.

According to the Traffic Regulations of the Russian Federation, a moped is a two- or three-wheeled mechanical vehicle whose maximum design speed does not exceed 50 km/h, which has an internal combustion engine with a working volume not exceeding 50 cc, or an electric motor with a nominal maximum power in continuous load mode of more than 0.25 kW and less than 4 kW.
