A Crimean man who grew 226 cannabis bushes at home was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
The Saki District Court issued a verdict in a criminal case against a local resident. Based on the evidence presented by the prosecutor’s office, he was found guilty under paragraph “g” of Part 4 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal sale of narcotic drugs committed on a large scale).
It was established that the defendant, on the territory of his household in the village of Sizovka, grew 226 bushes of the narcotic hemp plant for subsequent illegal sale. In June 2021, he sold more than 600 g of the narcotic drug cannabis for a monetary reward of 40 thousand rubles,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.
The criminal actions of the defendant were stopped by officers of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol. The court sentenced the “farmer” to 11 years of imprisonment to be served in a maximum security penal colony. At present, the verdict has not entered into legal force.
