The Day of Slavic Literature was celebrated in Tauride Chersonese

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On May 24, the museum-reserve held a holiday for schoolchildren! On the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, the best participants in the online campaign “Reading Pushkin Together,” organized jointly with the My History Foundation and the St. Vladimir Monastery, competed in knowledge, attended an interactive game and enjoyed tea in Tauride Chersonese.

According to the terms of the recently completed online campaign, schoolchildren had to read the poem they liked by the great Russian poet as a whole class and record it on video. The event was dedicated to the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin.

On May 24, the teams that sent the most interesting videos to the museum-reserve came to Tauride Chersonesos for the awards ceremony. Hieromonk Anastasy (Baikov) congratulated the children on the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture and presented well-deserved certificates to all participants in the online event “Reading Pushkin Together.”

The Slavs — Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Serbs — wanted to pray in their native language, and thanks to Saints Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles, this became possible. They prepared the ground for us to accept Christianity. This is a very important event, because once the Slavs were disparate tribes, and they became a single people only when they accepted faith, which is impossible without reading the holy books. Today we remember Saints Cyril and Methodius and their contribution to the fact that we speak and write in our native language‒ the press service of the museum-reserve quotes the resident of the St. Vladimir Chersonesos Monastery, Hieromonk Anastasy (Baykov).

After the award ceremony, the staff of the museum-reserve told schoolchildren in an easy and accessible way about the history of Slavic writing and about the enlighteners Cyril and Methodius, and then invited the children to take part in an interactive game. The guys showed their knowledge perfectly, and their reward was a tea party organized by Tauride Chersonesos together with the Sevastopol Gingerbread bakery!

We thank all the participants in the online campaign “Reading Pushkin Together” who came to celebrate the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture with us! We are always glad to see you at the Tauride Chersonese Museum-Reserve! — note the staff of the museum-reserve.
