The day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the fascist blockade: comment by Sergey Aksyonov
CrimeaPRESS reports:
“There is no blockade. The blockade has been lifted. The Germans near Leningrad were defeated and destroyed.”
These are lines from the front-line diary of war correspondent Pavel Luknitsky. On January 27, 1944, Leningrad was finally liberated from the blockade by Nazi troops.
The Nazis planned to destroy the city with artillery and aircraft. Level it to the ground. Not only the Germans took part in the blockade, but also the troops of Germany’s allies from Europe united under the Nazi banner. They became accomplices in genocide.
But the Leningraders were not broken by continuous shelling and bombing, nor by hunger and cold.
How were the defenders and residents of the city able to survive this hell on earth? The answer is in the same diary entries of Pavel Luknitsky:
“The most severe trials befell every Leningrader, there were moments when any person now celebrating his triumph seemed: “My strength is no longer enough, I won’t stand it to the end!..” But he called for help the will that he cultivated in himself every day . He called for help on faith in victory, which never left him even for an hour during all these two and a half years. And I found the strength to overcome the next test. Hunger, bombing, shelling, the most difficult life, extreme overstrain of physical and spiritual strength — nothing broke him, and he experienced inexpressibly complete joy.”
Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven to all those who perished!
Eternal glory to our valiant warriors!
Low bow to veterans and siege survivors! – says the commentary of the Head of Crimea.
