The Diving and Freediving Festival took place in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
On the basis of the Regional Public Organization “Sevastopol Sports Diving Club “Nadezhda”” a Diving and Freediving Festival was held in Victory Park.
This year’s festival is being held for the third year in a row and has already become an annual, traditional event. I really like the format, which allows non-professional athletes, amateurs and even beginners to get involved in such underwater sports disciplines as diving and freediving. This year, our heroes were brought in as newcomers — participants in a special military operation who received their first basics in diving— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the department for the development of physical culture, mass and adaptive sports of the sports department Larisa Evdokimova.
On the first day, a diving master class was held, in which fighters of a special military operation took part: Oleg Dzgoev, Alexander Naumov, Egor Tabakov and Andrei Filimonov. Participants dived into the Sevastopol Underwater Museum of Anchors, which was located at a depth of 5-6 meters in a very picturesque underwater clearing in the middle of boulders and sandy wastelands. In addition to the SVO fighters, 12 beginner and experienced breath-holding freedivers without scuba gear along with instructors took part in the master class.
In addition to the master class, we held a competition in static apnea — a freediver needs to hold his breath for a while while lying in the water. It’s great that the participants who took part for the first time showed interest in underwater sports and expressed a desire to continue their development and prepare for further competitions, — commented the President of the Sevastopol Underwater Sports Federation Anastasia Somova.
Winners and prize-winners of the static apnea competition in the men’s competition:
1. Dmitry Boyko — 4:52 min.
2. Alexander Belokurov — 4:26 min.
3. Maxim Tikhonov — 3:55 min.
In the women’s standings:
1. Yulia Vasilenko — 4:35 min.
2. Anastasia Usacheva — 2:39 min.
3. Angelika Adamova — 2:27 min.
The organizers of the Festival are the Underwater Sports Federation with the support of the Sevastopol Sports Administration.
