The emergency rescue service of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS» celebrates 9 years since its formation

Currently, the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea “CRIMEA-SPAS” has 11 emergency rescue teams. On average, 40 rescuers are on duty per day.

Today marks 9 years since the formation of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea “CRIMEA-SPAS”. The institution was created on September 25, 2014 according to the order of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea. Its main activity is maintaining control bodies, forces and means of the emergency rescue service in constant readiness to move to emergency zones and carry out emergency response work. Our rescuers provide assistance to people in mountainous and forest areas, on water, in case of accidents and in other difficult situations,” the press service of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Sadakliev quotes.

The first detachments appeared in Simferopol, Bakhchisarai, Yalta and Alushta. Rescuers began duty at the beginning of May 2015. Currently, the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea “CRIMEA-SPAS” has 11 emergency rescue teams.

The total number of employees in the state is 422 people, of which the number of certified rescuers is 292 people. On average, 40 rescuers are on duty per day. The departments of the Institution employ 148 unclassified rescuers, 101 3rd class rescuers, 38 2nd class rescuers and 5 1st class rescuers.

On the basis of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS», 3 freelance formations have been created and are functioning: a diving service (10 diving stations), a gas rescue service and a rescue search and landing group.

Employees of the State Public Institution of the Republic of Crimea «CRIMEA-SPAS» took a direct part in eliminating the consequences of emergency situations of various types on the territory of the Republic of Crimea. For the courage and courage shown, dedication and professional performance of official duties during the liquidation of the consequences of emergency situations, the employees of the Institution were repeatedly encouraged by the leadership of the Republic of Crimea. They were also awarded medals and insignia of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation. The head of the Institution, Andrei Nazarenko, was awarded the honorary title “Honored Rescuer of the Russian Federation.” Another 9 employees have the title of Honored Rescuers of the Republic of Crimea.

Over 9 years, 22,910 visits were carried out. 4704 people were saved: in 2015 — 120 people, 2016 — 467 people, in 2017 — 708 people, in 2018 — 557 people, 2019 — 606 people, 2020 — 531 people, 2021 — 609, in 2022 — 798 people, in 2023, 308 people have already been saved.

The basis of the regional rescue service’s vehicle fleet is made up of all-wheel drive rescue vehicles based on the GAZ-2705 and UAZ-3909, which are used as first-echelon vehicles.

To carry out search and rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas in winter when there is snow cover, Yamaha Viking snowmobiles and Yamaha Kodiak crawler-mounted ATVs are used. The total number of motor vehicles: ATVs — 6, including 3 on crawler tracks, snowmobiles — 4. To carry out search and rescue operations in the water area and ensure the operation of the CRIMEA-SPAS diving stations, 25 small vessels are used.

Also, to ensure the work of divers, a mobile diving complex based on a KAMAZ 43118 all-wheel drive vehicle is used.

Advanced training of rescuers and their professional training are being improved in the process of educational and training activities in such areas as: training camps for diving, snow-ice and avalanche training, for conducting R&D in the GLZ using motorized transport equipment, for providing assistance in vertical and flooded caves , on the use of aviation during RPS and many others.

Sergei Sadakliev noted that one of the indicators of the work of rescuers is the opinion of citizens: “The Ministry regularly receives letters of gratitude to the rescuers for the professional assistance provided, but it is the lives saved and words of gratitude that are the most important assessment of the hard work of the rescuers, thanks to which Everyday dangerous work is filled with new meaning.”
