The exhibition “Germans of Crimea. Pages of history»

At the Crimean Ethnographic Museum, as part of events dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the resettlement of Germans to the Crimean Peninsula, a presentation of the exhibition project “Germans of Crimea. Pages of history.» The exhibition was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea and the public organization “Regional German National-Cultural Autonomy of the Republic of Crimea”.
The exhibition presents the long history of the German people, their contribution to the formation of Russian society, its development and integration — from the first colonies on the peninsula to the return of the descendants of German colonists from places of deportation.
The exhibition structure has five sections: “Germans in the history of Crimea”, “Family and life of the Crimean Germans”, “Religion”, “Education” and “Traditional crafts of the Crimean Germans”. The exhibition introduces visitors to unique documents, photographs, books, and household items from the collections of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum. Documents from personal collections of Crimean Germans are also presented. In total, over 150 items from the German collection of the Republican Museum are on display.— said the Republican Ministry of Culture.
During the presentation, the Chairman of the German National-Cultural Autonomy, Yuri Hempel, donated to the museum a manual coffee grinder, produced in Western Europe in the mid-19th century, purchased from a private collector. The item was found in the village of Zolotoe Pole (former German-Swiss colony of Zurichtal), is in good preservation and will take its rightful place in the museum collection.
The exhibition will last until December 14.
