According to TASS, Ilya Averbukh was chosen by direct vote. He became the ambassador of the republic in the field of physical culture and sports. At the stand, Averbukh was presented with a special certificate, as well as several souvenirs.
Crimeans offered to choose me as an ambassador, which is an honor for me, said Averbukh. — Crimea is a stunning landscape, people who love their region and land. We are ready to fight for her, to do everything to make her more beautiful. Crimea is a real pearl. I am very glad that I was able to realize the idea of building prefabricated structures.
He added that in Crimea “in addition to beautiful objects, there are also results“, noting the performance of Crimean hockey players at the Golden Puck tournament.
Ilya Averbukh is 49 years old. In a duet with Irina Lobacheva, he is the silver medalist of the Olympic Games (2002), world champion (2002) and European champion (2003). Averbukh and Lobacheva also won silver (2003) and bronze (2001) at world championships, and three bronze medals at European championships (1999-2002).
