The federal project program «No Statute of Limitations» is being implemented in «Artek»

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The winners of the competition, according to the terms of which it was necessary to confirm achievements in the field of project, creative, research and other activities and complete a special competition task — project work in the direction of the same name, became participants in the additional general development program of the federal project «Without Statute of Limitations», which is being implemented by the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation. The program is being implemented at the International Children’s Center as part of the 9th shift «Sun, Sea and Artek».

The competition received 108 applications from 34 subjects of the Russian Federation, as well as from the Republic of Belarus. The jury members selected 30 winners, who received Certificates confirming the successful completion of all stages of the competition procedures, and were awarded a trip to a thematic shift.

A rich program has been created for the children: educational, creative and cultural events, professional master classes, meetings with experts and honored guests.

The large-scale educational project «Without a Statute of Limitations» is aimed at preserving the historical memory of the tragedy of the civilian population of the Soviet Union, the victims of war crimes of the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War, and establishing the circumstances of newly revealed crimes against the civilian population. It is very important for children to know and preserve the memory— the press service quotes the director of Artek, Konstantin Fedorenko.

The Suuk-Su Palace hosted a thematic meeting «No Statute of Limitations», moderated by Yuri Kravchenko, head of the 9th shift. Elena Malysheva, head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation; Valery Tolkachev, head of the department for supervision of the investigation of especially important criminal cases of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Belarus; Maria Ponomareva, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Director of the Institute of History and International Relations of SFedU and Olga Brezhneva, head of the project office of the National Center and the educational program of the federal project «No Statute of Limitations» in an open dialogue with the Artek children shared how the project helps to preserve historical memory, what areas of the project are being implemented in the Republic of Belarus today, and also gave a historical and legal assessment of the genocide of the Soviet population by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War. The children, in turn, spoke about projects in their regions, shared practices in the field of preserving historical memory and working with family history.

Elena Malysheva also met with members of the school management teams, teaching staff and representatives of children’s camps of the International Children’s Center «Artek». During the meeting, they discussed how to most effectively integrate the topic of preserving historical memory into the process of communication with children, what methods can be used in organizing project activities and how to most effectively present to schoolchildren the topic of the genocide of the Soviet people by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War.

It is very important that children, when studying history, see not individual facts and events, even if they are very interesting, but first of all pay attention to the meaning that forms our genetic, national historical and cultural code., — notes Elena Malysheva.

At the thematic master class «We Know History!» the children together with the head of the Center for Social and Psychological Support of the Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafin Ksenia Pozdnyakova discussed the social and psychological factors of the resilience of the residents of besieged Leningrad. The expert told the children about the human qualities that helped the residents cope with the most difficult conditions of the blockade, endure physical, psychological and everyday trials, difficulties and deprivations.

Our memory is inextricably linked with emotions, so when we talk about real human stories that evoke an internal emotional response, it is easier for us to form personal perceptions. Of course, the feat of the residents of besieged Leningrad is the phenomenon in our history that we need to know about, that we need to talk about. I thank the Artek children for the interesting dialogue, the interest and involvement shown., — says Ksenia Pozdnyakova.

Together with the Russian Blacksmiths Guild, as part of the «Destroyed Childhood» campaign, children from all over Artek took part in a master class on forging tokens. On them, Artek children minted memorable places and names associated with the genocide of civilians by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War. The children reflected on the tokens the names of their great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers — their ancestors who suffered from Nazi crimes. Leningrad, Sylvia, Salsk, Dulag-205 and Dulag-142, Plavsk — these and many other places of memory were placed by the children on tokens, which were then attached to the Tree of Memory in Artek. The children are familiar with the stories of these places from their participation in the «No Statute of Limitations» project — Artek children dedicated their competition works to many of them. After the master class, the children gathered together to share with each other their personal experiences, what events are associated with the immortalized places, and to tell the stories of their ancestors who became victims of Nazism during the Great Patriotic War.

The culmination of the shift was the literary and musical performance «Without a Statute of Limitations» about the genocide of civilians by the Nazis and their accomplices. It took place on August 18 in the theater hall of the Suuk-Su Palace. The invited director was Marina Bondarenko, a leading researcher at the Yeisk Historical and Local History Museum named after V.V. Samsonov. The production included songs about the Great Patriotic War, facts and figures about the victims of the Nazi genocidal policy, and the memories of child prisoners of concentration camps.

The boys spoke to the audience in the voices of the little heroes of the Great War, those who gave their lives for our Victory, they spoke in the voices of children tortured by the Nazis and their accomplices… They had no time for childhood, and they early felt responsibility for the fate of their homeland.

Horrible figures were announced from the stage: over 13 million Soviet civilians died during the war…

The production mentioned 214 disabled children from the city of Yeysk in Krasnodar Krai who were brutally strangled by the Nazis in gas vans in October 1942, and the head of the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation, Elena Malysheva, voiced the initiative of activists of the project «Without Statute of Limitations» to make October 10 the Day of Remembrance of Children Victims of Genocide. It was proposed to organize the first event dedicated to the memory of children exterminated by the Nazis and their accomplices, namely in the International Children’s Center «Artek» and the city of Yeysk with the reading of biographies of children of war. Elena Malysheva expressed hope that all regions will join the memorial movement.

Project organizers They emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly noted that it is only possible to withstand the challenges of today, determine the future of our country, preserve its great status and develop its potential by relying on historical memory.

The thematic shift «No Statute of Limitations» continues, and the children still have a lot to learn and do. The following is planned: a legal dialogue «Nazism is illegal. Crimes without a statute of limitations», a thematic quiz, laying flowers at the Memorial Complex «Concentration Camp «Red» in Simferopol, watching a documentary film on the genocide of the Soviet people «No Statute of Limitations. Hunting for Crimean Treasures» and much more.

The educational program «No Statute of Limitations» in «Artek» united talented children from many regions of Russia and countries of the world. They all have common interests, views and value orientations — they are all united by love for our country and its history.
