The festival «CrimeaBookFest» opened in Simferopol

The grand opening of the IX Literary Festival “CrimeaBookFest” and the XXVII Crimean Shmelev Readings took place in Simferopol. Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina welcomed the participants, organizers and guests, emphasizing that by combining museum and library components, the projects will successfully achieve the important goal of studying and popularizing the work of Russian writers.
According to the minister, the creative tandem of writers, poets, historians, local historians, publishers, cultural and arts institutions contributed to expanding the geography of the projects, made the program even more intense and interesting, and increased the number of participants and guests.
Today we are pleased to welcome honored guests — a delegation from Moscow: the House of Russian Abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn, headed by director Viktor Moskvin, representatives of the Association of Writers’ and Publishers’ Unions of Russia. I thank the organizers for their contribution to the Literary Festival and Shmelev Readings, I wish everyone fruitful work, inspiration, interesting meetings, new ideas— said Tatyana Manezhina.
The XXVII Crimean Shmelev Readings are dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer Ivan Shmelev and the 30th anniversary of the Writer’s Museum in Alushta. The work of Ivan Shmelev is the object of scientific study in the modern world and is considered as an example of the continuation of the traditions of Russian classical literature.
The organization of the readings is carried out by the Alushta Literary and Memorial Museum of S.N. Sergeev-Tsensky with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea, the National Fund for Support of Copyright Holders, the House of Russian Abroad named after. A. Solzhenitsyn, Institute of World Literature named after. A.M. Gorky RAS.
This year, more than 60 applications from different regions of the country were submitted to participate in the forum. Reading program provides for the holding of the Day of the House of Russian Abroad, the presentation of a new exhibition hall in the Ivan Shmelev Museum, the opening of the exhibition “History of the Museum of the Writer I.S. Shmelev», meetings, film screenings, creative living rooms, thematic sections and other events.
The IX Literary Festival «CrimeaBookFest», aimed at popularizing the best examples of Russian classical literature, promoting the revival of spiritual values and ideals in domestic literature, developing creative communication between writers from various regions of Russia, is held by the Crimean Republican Universal Scientific Library. Festival program prepared taking into account the interests of book lovers and reading lovers of all ages and includes more than 40 different events: creative meetings, presentations, master classes, various exhibitions, theatrical performances, special areas for people with disabilities, events for children, as well as professional library issues communities will be discussed at the open platform “Modern libraries: new ideas and practices” and the round table “Book culture of Bashkortostan and Crimea: traditions, common ground and development prospects.”
