The film «Defense of Sevastopol» was seen by more than 10.5 thousand people
CrimeaPRESS reports:
As promised by the Russian Museum, the demonstration of Alexander Deineka’s painting «Defense of Sevastopol» in the Sevastopol Art Museum named after Kroshitsky ended on June 29.
In almost two months of work, the exhibition was visited by more than 10.5 thousand Sevastopol residents and guests of the city, a total of 300 excursions were conducted. About this «Sevastopolskaya Gazeta» Deputy Director of the Museum for Research Lyudmila Smirnova said.
In the first days, a queue formed at the entrance to our museum, and people also signed up in an organized manner. There were so many people who wanted to see the well-known painting in Sevastopol with their own eyes that we held tours every half hour. Our intelligentsia, employees of Sevastopol libraries, and even guests of the conference that the Sevastopol Defense Museum was holding at that time came. The interest in the painting, which was brought to Sevastopol for the first time, was obvious.— said L. Smirnova.
According to her, it is especially valuable that the exhibition has interested Sevastopol students, also because on the day of its opening the exhibition was visited by the rector of Sevastopol State University Vladimir Nechaev.
People’s reaction to the painting was also reflected in the number of reviews left, more than 150 of them.
In these reviews, visitors to the exhibition expressed their own feelings and thoughts, including in poetic form. Not to mention the words of gratitude spoken to the Russian Museum and our staff as the host, — said L. Smirnova.
According to the deputy director, the painting was of interest throughout its entire period of display in Sevastopol. Of course, when the excitement of the first days died down, tours began to be held once an hour, as groups were formed. At the same time, anyone could see the painting on their own. But even in these cases, museum employees approached visitors, gave explanations or answered questions. There were cases when the story began for three listeners and ended with a full-fledged tour group of fifteen to twenty.
There were especially many people on the last day of the exhibition. Many called, came from Simferopol, from Yevpatoria, from different cities of Crimea. There were also those who did not have time to come and regretted it— shared L. Smirnova.
In the coming days, the painting will be transported by special transport to St. Petersburg, where it will be returned to its permanent place in one of the halls of the State Russian Museum.
At the same time, on July 3 at 18.30 in the Central City Library named after Tolstoy there will be a lecture about the painting by A. Deineka “Defense of Sevastopol”, which will no longer be possible to view.
It is not very clear why the lecture will be held not during the exhibition of the painting, but, as they say, after the fact.
