The first Health Fair was held in Sevastopol

The health fair in Sevastopol took place in gymnasium No. 7, its initiators and organizers were the Department of Health, City Hospital No. 5 and the administration of the gymnasium.

Children are our future, we must take care not only of their mental but also of their physical health. Therefore, it was decided to organize such an informative and exciting event in schools where it is possible to gather large groups of children and talk with them on the most relevant topics, — quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol chief freelance pediatrician of the Department of Health Elena Borisenko.

The event was attended by specialists from the Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention and City Hospital No. 5. They told the children about the principles of a healthy lifestyle, the importance of proper nutrition, reproductive health and, of course, the devastating consequences of bad habits.

In connection with the development of the advertising industry, the problem is very acute. Of course, any school struggles and tries to prevent the emergence of bad habits, but besides the school, there is also a society in which our children live and grow, and I think that such events as today’s just put an exclamation point in solving this problem. We must talk with children not only about the good, but also about the bad, teach them by our personal example, help them understand complex issues, and I am very glad that such an event starts in our gymnasium— notes the director of gymnasium No. 7 Olga Khomyakova.

Master classes aroused particular interest among schoolchildren. The children not only heard lectures on the principles of first aid for injuries, respiratory arrest and loss of blood circulation, but also tested their new knowledge in practice: they learned how to apply tourniquets, bandages, perform artificial respiration, mastered the Heimlich maneuver and the basics of cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

In addition to thematic lessons and master classes, the doctors of the city hospital No. 5 conducted a preventive medical examination for schoolchildren born in 2010. A pediatrician, an ophthalmologist and a dentist came to check the children’s health. Approximately 100 students have been screened.

After the end of the classes, the children and the organizers of the event gathered at a round table, where they shared their impressions and discussed additional questions.

I would like the Health Fair to become a good tradition for our city. We will look at the reviews, we really hope that they will be positive — this will mean that we are going in the right direction and will definitely come to all schools in Sevastopol— Elena Borisenko summed up.

In total, 180 children took part in the events organized for schoolchildren at six locations.

Recall that Sevastopol is implementing the regional program “Development of Children’s Healthcare, including the Creation of a Modern Infrastructure for Providing Medical Care to Children” of the national project “Healthcare”, one of the main goals of which is to increase the availability and quality of medical care at all stages of its provision, as well as the prevention of morbidity.
