The first to take the blow of the Nazis: in Sevastopol they honored the memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Great Patriotic War began for Sevastopol at 3:13 on June 22, 1941. Every year at this time, events in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War begin in the Hero City. City Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, together with Chairman of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Nemtsev, Deputy Director of the Museum-Reserve of the Heroic Defense and Liberation of Sevastopol for scientific work Anna Selivanova, Acting Head of the Leninsky Municipal District Alexei Vereshchaka and city residents laid flowers at the memorial sign to the first victims of the war on the street Nefyodova. It is located in the place where there was a residential building before the Nazi attack: the explosion of the first shell that fell here killed 21 people. These were the first victims of the Great Patriotic War.
Sevastopol was the first to take the blows of the Nazis. The first shells fell on residential streets, killing civilians. Therefore, on June 22, Sevastopol residents always bring flowers to the memorial on Nefedov Street — in memory of the innocent victims of the war. Today, speaking about these terrible events, we remember what a terrible threat fascism is, how much trouble and grief the war brought to our city, our country, and at what cost the Victory was achieved. We will remember our heroes forever, – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Mikhail Razvozhaev.
At the Memorial of the Heroic Defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942. All-Russian events “Candle of Memory” and “Fire Pictures of War” were held. The youth of the city and Victory volunteers laid out a fragment of the canvas of the diorama “Storm of Sapun Mountain” from 10 thousand candles.
Participants of the action — Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Vladimir Nemtsev, Deputy Commander of the Black Sea Fleet Vyacheslav Vitold, State Duma Deputy Dmitry Belik, heads of federal and law enforcement agencies, representatives of youth organizations, students of higher educational institutions of the city, city residents — laid flowers at the eternal flame and We honored the memory of those who fell in the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.
The “Candle of Memory” campaign traditionally takes place on June 22 throughout the country. In Sevastopol, our Victory volunteers dedicated the action to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Hero City from the Nazi invaders — this is the date to which we are dedicating the entire current year. All the numbers, dates, words that are being heard now are memories of the war, the feat of the people and the monstrous sacrifices that our country suffered while defending and liberating its land, its cities. To ensure that those terrible events never happen again, we need victory today. It is necessary that the fighters who valiantly fight against the rise of Nazism on the fronts of a special military operation will definitely win. Everyone who came to the rally today talked about these parallels and how this should never happen again.emphasizes Mikhail Razvozhaev.
After the lighting of the candles, the regional event “Ships of Dreams” took place on the Grafskaya pier. Each participant launched a paper boat into the sea in memory of school graduates who did not have time to meet the peaceful dawn in 1941.
This year, the All-Russian campaigns “Candle of Memory”, “Fire Pictures of War” and the regional campaign “Ships of Dreams” were held in Sevastopol for the tenth time.
