The flag of the Kerch Fortress is raised

Traditionally, on the birthday of Eduard Totleben (May 20), whose name is immortalized in the name of the fort of the Kerch Fortress, employees of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve raise the flag of the Kerch Fortress and a number of thematic events dedicated to the history of one of the main bastions of Russia in the 19th century.
On Saturday, a bas-relief depicting Eduard Totleben, a military engineer, hero of the first defense of Sevastopol, head of the construction of the Kerch fortress, adjutant general, head of the Main Engineering Directorate of the Russian Empire, was unveiled on the territory of the checkpoint No. 1 of the Kerch Fortress.
The National Guard Orchestra, the Majorettes of the Kerch Marine Technological University, the Rodnik Choir of the Kerch Educational and Educational Boarding Complex Lyceum of Arts performed for the participants of the event.
Yuri Belik, Head of the Research Department of the Kerch Fortress, conducted a tour of the restored entrance group of the central gate of the Kerch Fortress. Also on this day, a number of specialists of the museum institution were awarded with diplomas of the head of the municipality of the city district of Kerch, commemorative signs «For loyalty to the cause» and «Totleben» of the East Crimean Museum-Reserve— reports the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.
