The founder of the first ultrathiathlon in Russia «Impulse» Yaroslav Svyatoslavsky arrived in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The founder of the first ultra-triathlon project in Russia «Impulse», athlete of the national Paralympic team, bronze medalist of the World Cup in cycling Yaroslav Svyatoslavsky arrived in Sevastopol, on the territory of «New Khersones». The athlete’s ultra-triathlon route started in Sochi and included a cycling stage, a water stage and a running stage.
It is a great honor for us to be involved in this event today, to meet Yaroslav on the territory of the Hero City, on the legendary Sevastopol land, the land of Ancient Chersonesos. Here Yaroslav was met by representatives of Invasport and representatives of sports related to triathlon. You know, people who are limited in their physical abilities, but overcome the threshold of despondency, play sports, work on themselves — they give so much of their energy to others, so much charge those who are not yet motivated for feats, that it is very difficult to overestimate this. We are very grateful that we got on the route — I hope that today, from communication, our Sevastopol athletes, our representatives of Invasport will be charged with additional energy for future new victories and achievements— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the Sevastopol Sports Department, Sergei Reznicenko.
In 2009, Yaroslav suffered a spinal injury with spinal cord damage after falling from a 12-meter height, but returned to sport and became not only a high-performance athlete, but also a sought-after motivational speaker among Paralympians in Russia and the CIS.
The route was difficult, but I arrived in a great mood, cheerful. The road was excellent, «Tavrida» is a great route, fast, high-speed. Of course, there were ups and downs, but I coped, and now I am here, in Chersonesos. I timed my ultratriathlon to coincide with my dream — to start walking again. I am doing it in support of research into spinal cord injuries, I would like to create my own fund to support research into these injuries and neurotechnologies, which will support research laboratories that are working on this issue. I really hope that in the next ten years, thanks to the fund and research funding, I and other guys will be able to start walking again.– emphasizes Yaroslav Svyatoslavsky.
I would like to express my gratitude to Yaroslav – it is very important when you are there to feel support that we are doing the right thing. The fact that he shows by his example that such injuries are not a death sentence, that life goes on – this is also very important for the guys who were left with injuries. Thanks to Yaroslav for what he does, – says volunteer participant in the special operation Nikolai Maslakov.
The final, finishing stage will be tomorrow – the athlete will leave from Nakhimov Square and finish at the Mriya resort complex.
