The fountain on Primorsky Boulevard is finally working properly

Acting Deputy Governor Yevgeny Gorlov reported the joyful event on social media:

The central fountain on Primorsky Boulevard is now fully operational… I am glad that we managed to complete the commissioning work on the eve of Navy Day.

Sevastopol residents reacted to the good news in mixed ways. Many were happy about the long-awaited event, while others reminded the deputy governor that it was the end of July, and the fountains were barely twitching in the 40-degree heat. In the deputy governor’s chat, they even wondered why in the warm climate of Sevastopol the fountain season ends much earlier than in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and the opening is always late.

The city fountains were launched by May 9 this year. The same E. Gorlov reported on their technical readiness at a government meeting at the end of April, warning that some would require additional inspection and lengthy start-up and commissioning work. After the launch, most of the fountains operated at a third of their capacity, some of them failed after a few days, others, like the dry fountain near the Korabel cultural complex, did not work at all.

At the same time, at the end of April, the State Budgetary Institution «Parks and Squares» held a tender for the comprehensive maintenance of city fountains. 35.6 million rubles were allocated for their preparation for the summer season. According to the contract, it was supposed to perform a colossal amount of work, including computer work. Commissioning work was planned to be carried out in stages, and the fountains were to be launched in June.
