The Governor of Sevastopol presented the honorary sign of the «Honored Artist of Russia» to the author of the coat of arms of the city Sergei Shakhunov

Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev presented the honorary sign “Honored Artist of the Russian Federation” Sergey Aleksandrovich Shakhunov, the author of the coat of arms of the hero city. The title was awarded with Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

The meeting took place at the country of Sergei Alexandrovich, where, on the recommendation of doctors, he spends a lot of time in the fresh air. Together with his wife, Nadezhda Konstantinovna Krylova, the artist told the governor about the symbolism and meanings laid down in the visual appearance of the coat of arms of Sevastopol.

Sergei Aleksandrovich Shakhunov first visited Sevastopol in 1967.

When I arrived in Sevastopol in the 67th year, I got to the sea plant for distribution. The first thought was when I saw the city, for the first time in my life, the sea-what a beautiful city, so many museums, immediately the idea arose to make the city of the city of the coat of arms— notes Sergey Shakhunov.

His many years of work in the field of poster painting and graphics, dedicated to heroic feat, patriotism, ecology and the fight against fascism, gained worldwide recognition. One of the works of Sergey Alexandrovich, dedicated to the fight against fascism, is in the Museum in Auschwitz.

Mikhail Razvozhaev praised the work of the artist.

I enjoyed getting acquainted with the works of Sergey Alexandrovich — they are deep and multifaceted. His posters are known all over the world. I suggested that Sergey Alexandrovich release the album with his posters and comments. I believe that the work of the legendary artist should be preserved in the history of Sevastopol— says Mikhail Razvozhaev.

The governor noted the importance of maintaining and popularizing the works of Sergey Shakhunov, which are an integral part of the cultural heritage of Sevastopol and Russia. The presentation of the honorary sign became the recognition of the outstanding contribution of the artist to the development of fine art and patriotic education.
