Criminal investigation officers found that the pensioner’s funds were transferred to pay for bitcoins. As a result of operational search activities, police identified and detained the suspect. He turned out to be the 19-year-old grandson of a friend of the victim. The young man confessed and said that from the phone of his grandmother, who had access to the applicant’s current account, he transferred money to a company trading bitcoins. Afterwards, he called the administrators of this company, refused the purchase and asked to transfer the spent funds to his bank account. Thus, within a year, he withdrew 70 thousand rubles to his bank account and subsequently spent— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
