Today – without optimistic promises and unrealistic schedules for water supply. The situation with water supply in Sevastopol is more than serious. On the verge of a state of emergency. Causes.
A lot of snow fell, and literally within a day it melted. There was a sharp influx of dirty water from the mountains into the Chernaya River, and groundwater rose. The indicators were exceeded almost hundreds of times. The last time a similar natural situation occurred in Sevastopol was in the 70s.
Consequences.
Due to the rise of rivers and mudflows, the level of water turbidity has sharply increased: if normally the suspended matter is 1.5 mg per liter, now it has increased to 58 mg per liter. That is, the water has become almost 60 times dirtier. With such turbidity of water, the rate of water treatment sharply deteriorates. That is why water intakes in the city are being stopped and systems are being cleaned.
What is being done to solve the problem.
The water supply scheme in Sevastopol is secret and one of the most complex in the country due to the terrain. There are high-pressure, medium-pressure, and gravity water pipelines. On one street there may be all three types of water pipelines, so with periodic water supply, water will reach one house, but not another. To fill the entire system to 120 thousand cubic meters, and for the water to reach everyone, it takes more than 50 hours. We made a decision: there will be no water until 9 am tomorrow. On Tuesday morning, water will be supplied from 9:00 to 11:00. It may not reach some houses — for the reason I described abovesaid Mikhail Razvozhaev.
So, tomorrow, if the lucky ones will have water, it will only be from 9:00 to 11:00.
Next is the most unpleasant information.
There will be no water from 11:00 January 23 until 20:00 Wednesday, January 24. This forced shutdown of the system, necessary for the accumulation and sanitary purification of water, will allow us to provide water as normal on the evening of January 24th. If we continue to supply water periodically, the process may drag on for a week or more. I ask everyone to treat the situation with understanding. Everyone who can should stock up on water.
