“The Immortal Legend of Chersonese” — the museum presented a book dedicated to Inna Antonova

The State Museum-Reserve in its book series «The Chersonesos Archive» published a publication dedicated to Inna Anatolyevna Antonova.

The new book, which has just been published, is called “The Immortal Legend of Chersonesos. The unpublished legacy of Inna Anatolyevna Antonova. This is a fundamental work about the life and work of a remarkable archaeologist and historian, director of the State Chersonesos Museum in –1971 and 1980–1985 years. — Inna Anatolyevna Antonova, created on the basis of documentary material stored in the scientific archive of the Chersonesos Museum. The published documents deal with a wide range of archaeological, museological and biographical issues. Among the presented materials are the texts of articles and speeches by I. A. Antonova at scientific conferences, congresses and meetings, unpublished works, as well as correspondence with scientists and, first of all, with colleagues — researchers of Chersonese: historians, archaeologists, specialists in the field of natural sciences. Most of the materials are published for the first time (the epistolographic section is the main part of the book — page from 796). The book is provided with an index of names and geographical names. It should be especially noted that all the presented archival texts have a detailed commentary. The publication is richly illustrated with archival photographs, many of which are also published for the first time , the press service of the Tauric Chersonese Museum-Reserve reported. 19801980

“The Immortal Legend of Chersonesos” is not just another edition in the series ΑΡΧΕΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΧΕΡΣΟΝΗΣΟΥ (“Chersonese Archive”). In a sense, experts note, this is a documented history of the Khersones Museum of the second half of the 20th century.

Thanks to the combination of texts of various types — orders, official characteristics, autobiographies, scientific articles, speeches at various meetings and meetings, scripts for films, speeches at the opening of exhibitions, congratulations written in the style of ancient Greek honorary decrees , extensive correspondence with colleagues and other persons (the most valuable epistolary source for the 20th century, which we are introducing into scientific circulation!, memoirs, etc., etc. — the interested reader now has the opportunity to plunge very deeply into the museum (and not only) atmosphere of the second half of the twentieth century, to see the changes that took place during this long period of time, to get closer to understanding how the museum lived, what problems it faced and how it solved them, to get to know better the world-renowned researchers who worked or visiting Chersonesus, and, of course, with the staff of the museum, whose devotion and love for Chersonesos and whose zealous work (invisible to the uninitiated person) made it possible to preserve for us this amazing and truly unique ancient city, which is the archaeological pearl of Russia , — they emphasize in the museum-reserve. 19801980
