The international campaign “St. George’s Ribbon” started in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, as throughout the country, the international campaign “St. George’s Ribbon” started. From April 24 to May 9, volunteers will distribute black and orange symbols of remembrance in all areas of the city. The event was organized by the Youth Affairs Department together with the regional branch of Victory Volunteers.

The start of the action was given today at the Memorial of the Heroic Defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942.

On the eve of Victory Day, the All-Russian event “St. George’s Ribbon” started in Sevastopol. The action is a tribute to memory, and the ribbon itself is a sign of Victory, the truth that we have carried through many years in order to preserve our history– quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol, head of the youth affairs department Marina Slonchenko.

The event was attended by Great Patriotic War veteran Mikhail Latokha, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Health and Social Policy of the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Tatyana Shcherbakova, Chairman of the Sevastopol regional branch of the all-Russian public organization «Russian Union of Veterans» Mikhail Anokhin, Chairman of the Sevastopol regional branch of the All-Russian public movement «Volunteers of Victory» Alexandra Nikulina.

This year it is planned to distribute about 90,000 ribbons to residents of all districts of Sevastopol. Today, volunteers presented ribbons on Primorsky Boulevard, Lazarev and Nakhimov squares, and on the Kornilov embankment.
