The International Scientific Conference “Yalta 1945: Lessons from History” was held in Livadia

The Livadia Palace Museum hosted the International Scientific Conference “Yalta 1945: Lessons from History”, dedicated to the 79th anniversary of the Crimean (Yalta) Conference of the leaders of the three allied powers — the USSR, the USA, and Great Britain.
The meetings were attended by scientists and employees of the Crimean Federal University. IN AND. Vernadsky, historians, political scientists, foreign researchers, as well as employees of museums in Crimea, Sevastopol, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Kherson region and Donetsk People’s Republic, who discussed the most important topics for today.
An extensive topic of reports was proposed for consideration at the event: “The Yalta Conference of 1945: traditional and new dimensions”; “Politics is the art of creating allies for yourself”: lessons and legacy of the Yalta Conference of 1945”; “The limits of applicability of the experience of the Yalta Conference to modern realities”; “Portugal and the formation of the Yalta-Potsdam international system”; “The results of the Crimean War through the prism of the civilizational theory of N.Ya. Danilevsky»; “Crimean War, Crimean Spring and special military operation: lessons from history and literature”reports the press service of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Crimea.
In addition, issues related to the formation and functioning of international relations systems, the reflection of domestic foreign policy in the cultural space and the relevance of the Yalta Conference of 1945 were raised.
After the end of the plenary session, for the participants and guests of the conference, researcher at the Livadia Palace Museum Ekaterina Mateshko gave a presentation of the exhibition “Images of the Big Three. In memory of the Crimean Conference.»
The exhibition presents rare exhibits from the collections of the Livadia Palace Museum, united by the theme of the Yalta meeting of the Big Three. A unique souvenir plate from 1945, exhibited for the first time, deserves special attention. The exhibition is available to visitors until March 15, 2024 as part of a tour of the main exhibitions of the palace,” noted the Republican Ministry of Culture.
The scientific conference “Yalta 1945: Lessons from History” was continued the next day, including in an online format. The meeting participants touched on many current topics: “The next step in the destruction of the Yalta system: on the issue of ideology in the problem of changing Russian-Finnish relations at the present stage”; “Basic constructs of Russia’s image: media dimension”; “Reflection of the history of the Great Patriotic War in museum collections and exhibitions of the Military History Museum of the Great Patriotic War”; “The Persian Corridor: the experience of military-economic cooperation between the USSR and its allies during the Great Patriotic War”; «The role of China in the modern financial system of the world.»
At the end of the second day of the conference, junior researcher of the museum’s scientific and exhibition department Galina Abramova presented the exhibition “Call Sign: “Victory!”, dedicated to the anniversary of the special military operation.
On the last day of the international conference, a section of students and schoolchildren took place in the White Hall of the Livadia Palace Museum in the format of a meeting of the Historical Club-lecture hall.
REFERENCE: The Crimean (Yalta) conference of 1945, led by Joseph Stalin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Winston Churchill, became a landmark event of the Second World War. Thanks to the experience of the leaders of the allied states, as well as their ability to find compromises, the foundations of the post-war world order were laid and the structure of the world for the next 50 years was determined.
