The issue of providing orphans with housing is being discussed in Sevastopol

The Sevastopol practice of providing orphans with apartments using housing certificates has become federal. Now this norm is valid in all regions of the country. The issue of providing housing for orphans was discussed on March 21 at a meeting of the Sevastopol Government chaired by Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Sevastopol was one of the few subjects of the Russian Federation that implemented such an additional measure of support, the head of the city recalled.

The issue of providing orphans with housing in Sevastopol used to be very acute. Together with the prosecutor’s office, we managed to shorten the queue for obtaining apartments: we developed several solution options, and one of them was housing certificates. In 2022-2023, we implemented 39 such certificates — entirely from the city budget,” the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Now the practice of issuing certificates will apply throughout Russia. The governor noted: for now, housing certificates are fully financed from the regional budget of the region, but in the future the federal ministries will raise the issue of establishing a procedure for co-financing this norm from the federal budget.

If additional need arises, we will attract more money from the regional budget to provide housing to as many people in need as possible.notes Mikhail Razvozhaev.

Due to the fact that a unified federal order is now in effect throughout the entire country, people who are orphans will be able to get an apartment with a housing certificate not only in Sevastopol, but also in any other region of Russia. The size of the subsidy for Sevastopol residents will be determined based on the cost of housing in the city, but not lower than the cost established by the Russian Ministry of Construction.

Also new to the law was the preferential right to receive a certificate for orphans who took part in a special military operation.
