The joint football championship “Commonwealth” started in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev and Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Odes Baysultanov launched the joint football championship “Commonwealth”, which opened on March 30 in Sevastopol. The opening ceremony was also attended by the deputy head of the administration of the head of the Lugansk People’s Republic, Oleg Chernousov.

Before the start of the match, participants and fans observed a minute of silence in memory of those killed during the terrorist attack in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall.

At the first game of the championship, the Sevastopol-2 team met with the Zarya team from the LPR. Mikhail Razvozhaev emphasized: the Commonwealth Championship is a new page in patriotic football in Russia.

I am grateful to the Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Odes Khasaevich Baysultanov, who today personally came to Sevastopol to kick off the tournament, which symbolically begins here. I believe that the Commonwealth Championship is a new page in patriotic football in the country. We show everyone our unity, patriotism and our will for peaceful development. We play football, we believe in our Victory and in the future of Russian football! – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the city governor.

Odes Baysultanov presented Mikhail Razvozhaev with the Nikolai Ozerov medal — a departmental award of the Russian Ministry of Sports — for his contribution to the development of sports.

We worked a lot together with Mikhail Vladimirovich, and I always liked that special attention is paid to sports in Sevastopol. Sport is one of the best areas for the socialization of children and adolescents. And the championship, which opened today, is aimed at making our guys, athletes from new regions of Russia, feel like one big friendly family. Hence the name – “Commonwealth”. We are all united and this is our strengthsaid the Deputy Minister of Sports.

Oleg Chernousov expressed the opinion that sports competitions such as the Commonwealth Championship act as an incentive for young athletes.

In 1972, the Zarya football club was the champion of the USSR. It was formed in 1923, and since then we have been writing our history. I am convinced that the most important thing in sports is to set an example for young people, to show that it is necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle, train a lot, and go to such tournaments. This is a high level. In competitions such as the Commonwealth Championship, the unity of our country“, concluded the deputy head of the administration of the head of the LPR.

The ambassadors of the Commonwealth League were famous Russian football players Evgeny Aldonin and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. This morning they held a master class for students of the Sevastopol sports school No. 3 in football, and then attended a match between the Sevastopol-2 and Zarya teams.

For reference: in July 2023, the Russian Government decided to hold the United Football Championship “Commonwealth”. The championship participants were football players from Sevastopol, the Republic of Crimea, DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions: from 10 to 12 youth teams in each age group U-13, U-15, U-17 and 10 adult professional teams.

In 2024, the FC Sevastopol-2 team was created to participate in the Commonwealth Championship. It included pupils of the city sports school No. 3 for football.
