The Khersones Opera and Ballet Festival will be held at the Fishermen's Palace of Culture

The VIII International Opera and Ballet Festival «Chersonesos» was moved from Chersonesos to the Fishermen’s Palace of Culture this year for security reasons, the press service of the Museum-Reserve «Tauric Chersonesos» reported.
The festival has reportedly been postponed due to security concerns. The festival is organized by ANO Russian Seasons and Vision Media Center LLC together with the State Museum-Reserve Tauric Chersonesos. The event is supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Government of Sevastopol.
The current festival’s program is reported to be rich and will include premieres of ballets and dramatic performances.
The festival will open on July 29 and 30 (at 19.00) on the stage of the DKR with the premiere of the ballet performance «Wuthering Heights» (based on the novel by Emily Bronte) staged by the Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theatre. The ballet has been declared an all-Russian premiere. Its choreographer is Jonah Paul Cook, musical director and conductor-producer Artem Abashev.
The leading roles in the ballet will be performed by the ballerina of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Youth Theatre Ksenia Ryzhkova, Sergei Polunin, Honored Artist of Russia, invited premier of the Bolshoi Theatre Alexander Volchkov, laureate of international competitions, soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Ekaterina Odarenko, laureate of the Moscow Prize, leading soloist of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Youth Theatre Valeria Mukhanova, ballet dancers of the leading theatres of the country. Tickets priced from 1,000 to 4,500 roubles are already available at the DKR box office.
From August 1 to 4, there will be concerts of “Igor Moiseyev’s Classics,” and on August 8 and 9, the play “Sailor’s Silence” directed by Oleg Tabakov’s Moscow Theater is scheduled.
