The “kids” decided to ride someone else’s moped… and this is already an article of the Criminal Code. Case in Yalta

In Yalta, police officers identified the suspects in the theft of a moped; they turned out to be minors.

The day before, Yalta police officers recorded a report of the theft of a moped worth about 30 thousand rubles. According to information received, the vehicle belonged to a 29-year-old local resident. The victim left the vehicle in the local area, but when he returned, he discovered that his personal property was missing. As a result of the operational search activities carried out by the police, the identity of the suspects was established. They turned out to be 13 and 14-year-old residents of Yalta— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

Police officers found out that the minors, during an evening walk, saw a parked moped on the street with the ignition keys left in it. Having made sure that there were no witnesses, the attackers rolled the vehicle away from the crime scene and drove away; after they drove off, they left it nearby. Confessions were obtained from the suspects. Police officers were able to recover the stolen property.

The investigator of police department No. 3 “Massandra” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Yalta opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Theft). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

As the police clarified, the issue of bringing the parents of minors to administrative responsibility under Art. 5.35 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (Failure of parents or other legal representatives of minors to fulfill obligations for the maintenance and upbringing of minors).
