The killer will finally answer for the crime committed in Crimea 24 years ago
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In Crimea, a criminal investigation into the murder of a Simferopol police school cadet, committed in March 1999, has been completed.
It was established that on the evening of March 5, 1st year cadets of the Simferopol police school, who were relaxing in the Cosmos cafe on Gagarin Street in Simferopol, decided to congratulate girls from a neighboring company on the upcoming International Women’s Day. The brother of one of them did not like this, a fight ensued, during which the 17-year-old attacker, who was a student at a medical university, stabbed the 18-year-old cadet in the stomach with a knife. Subsequently, the injured young man was taken to a medical facility, where he died a few days later. After committing the crime, the suspect returned home to Sevastopol, changed clothes, packed his things and disappeared in an unknown direction,” the Investigative Committee recalled the details of the case.
The measures taken by law enforcement agencies at that time to find and detain the attacker did not bring results, although his identity and social circle were established. After the formation of the Russian Investigative Committee on the peninsula in 2014, investigators and forensic investigators again began to study archival materials about crimes of past years, for which operational search activities and investigative actions were carried out again. The result was the solving of a murder that happened 24 years ago. The investigation charged the man in absentia and chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.
Based on the results of thorough systematic work to investigate crimes of past years, carried out in cooperation with operational officers of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Republic of Crimea, the location of the man was established. In June 2023, he was detained in the Moscow region and transferred to the city of Simferopol.
For the purpose of conspiracy, the man completely changed his passport data, taking the last name, first name and patronymic of his classmate, even indicating his parents in the document as his own. He led a fairly wealthy lifestyle, working as a technologist at a factory near Moscow.
The criminal investigation has now been completed. The preliminary investigation authorities accuse the man of intentionally causing the death of another person (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). He was chosen as a measure of crossing in the form of detention— reported in Sledkom.
The materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for study, signing of the indictment and further sending the case to court for consideration on the merits.
