The March melting of snow in the mountains of Crimea ensured the full flow of rivers and the filling of reservoirs
CrimeaPRESS reports:
In March, precipitation was distributed unevenly across the river basins. According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Crimean Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring”, in the basins of the Demerdzhi and Kuchuk-Uzenbash rivers, one and a half times more than the monthly norm of precipitation fell, in the basins of the Kokkozka, Chernaya, Derekoika, Salgir, Maly Salgir rivers — within normal limits, and in the basins of other rivers — within 50-71% of the norm.
On March 22, snow fell again in the mountainous Crimea, which melted on March 23, and on March 26, new snow accumulation formed. Snowdrifts on the Ai-Petri plateau reached 25 cm. Melting snow in the mountains of Crimea led to the fact that increased water content was maintained in the river basins of the northern foothills. It turned out to be especially high in the middle and lower reaches of the main rivers Alma, Kacha, Belbek, and Biyuk-Karasu due to water discharges from reservoirs located in the upper reacheshydrologists said.
The influx of water into Crimean reservoirs in March (in million cubic meters) was: Belogorskoye – 4.9, Simferopolskoye – 4.5, Schastlivenskoye – 2.3, Chernorechenskoye – 8.6.
By the beginning of April, the total total volume of water in reservoirs located in river beds amounted to 203.9 million cubic meters, which is only 0.3 cubic meters less than a month ago.
