The Maritime Register issued documents for the new “comet”. For work in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, a set of classification documents was issued for the high-speed passenger ship “Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich” of project 23160 “Kometa 120M”.
The vessel was built in technological cooperation between the shipbuilding enterprises «Vympel Shipyard» and «More Shipyard». The project was developed by the Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoils named after Alekseev on the basis of previous projects of the SPK “Kometa”, “Kolkhida”, “Katran”, the press service of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping reported.
The new generation SPC can accommodate up to 120 passengers, can reach speeds of up to 35 knots (65 km/h) and will be able to travel up to 50 miles from the place of refuge. The length of the vessel is 35.2 m; width — 10.4 m; displacement — 74 tons; draft — 3.4 m; crew — five people; engine power — 2×1066 kW. The vessel will carry out passenger transportation in the coastal areas of the Black Seathe message says.
The issuance of the Register’s documents was preceded by a full range of mooring, sea and acceptance tests, during which the department’s specialists checked the seaworthiness of the vessel, its equipment and systems. All systems worked properly, the vessel is completely ready to set out on the route. The facility will also be operated under the technical supervision of specialists from the RS division in Sevastopol.
The ship is named after the pilot-cosmonaut, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot of the Vostok-4 spacecraft and commander of the Soyuz-14 with the call sign «Berkut» Pavel Romanovich Popovich. Inside the vessel there is a stand with a biography and photographs reflecting memorable moments in the astronaut’s life.
