The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported a Ukrainian provocation during the rotation of the IAEA mission

The Ukrainian side tried to discredit the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the next rotation of observers of the mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at the Zaporozhye NPP (ZNPP). Despite the provocation, our servicemen ensured the safe passage of the observers of the IAEA mission, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

During the transition, the Ukrainian side made an attempt to discredit the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as a guarantor of the security of the rotation, by using means simulating ammunition explosions on the route of the inspectors. Despite the provocation arranged by the Ukrainians, the Russian military personnel were able to ensure the safe passage of the mission’s observers and their delivery to the station— reported reported in the Russian military department.

The mission consists of five inspectors, their task is to monitor and assess the state of safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. IAEA experts have been present at ZNPP since September 1, 2022 after the first visit of the Agency Director General Rafael Grossi to the plant.
