In the apartment, the walls in the kitchen were burned and the balcony burned out. 12 personnel and 4 units of special equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.the emergency department said.
During the inspection, investigators of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia established that a microwave oven became the cause of the fire. As it turned out, an elderly couple was in the apartment at the time of the fire. The owner of the apartment was repairing the microwave oven. He left the faulty device plugged into the outlet on the balcony. A few hours later there was a short circuit in the electrical wiring, and the microwave caught fire. The flames spread to things stored on the balcony and quickly spread throughout the area. The owner of the apartment brought his wife out, and he himself began to put out the fire, but his attempts were unsuccessful. He survived only thanks to the promptly arrived firefighters.
Since the beginning of the year, 324 fires have occurred in Crimea due to a malfunction of electrical equipment, in which 10 people died and 13 were injured of varying severity.
