The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea warns — beware of spoofed websites on the Internet
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The pre-New Year bustle is the period before the holidays, when everyone is busy preparing for the New Year. A lot of things usually happen at this time: buying gifts, decorating the house, planning New Year’s trips and meetings with loved ones. This is the time when everyone strives to make the festive atmosphere even more joyful and cozy.
It is during the holidays that fraudulent schemes and scams can become more active. People are often in a state of emotional tension and joy, which can make them more vulnerable to fraudulent schemes. Attackers often take advantage of New Year’s promotions, sales, concerts and other festive events,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea reminds you how to avoid fraud during this period:
1. Be careful when making online purchases: check the reputation of the seller, avoid making payments through unreliable payment systems and be wary of emails and messages, including those through instant messengers, offering too good deals.
2. Beware of phishing attacks: Scammers may use holiday themes in emails and messages to lure personal information.
3. Strengthen your data security: Use strong passwords, update your antivirus software, and be careful about sharing personal information online.
4. If you order a product via the Internet, agree with the seller about payment after receipt. Only after checking the order at the point of issue do you make payment.
These measures will help reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of fraud during the New Year holidays.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea calls for vigilance and wishes safe holidays.
