The Museum of Languages of the World in Crimea updated the exposition
Krympress reports:
The new section of the museum is dedicated to Semiotics — the science of signs and iconic systems. Visitors will be able to take a fresh look at everyday symbols and signs that surround us everywhere. The museum collection was replenished with rare manuscripts on palm leaves. These exhibits talk not only about ancient writing, but also about how the material affects the form of symbols: the signs scratched on fragile leaves became rounded so as not to break this fibrous material.
Of particular interest is the new receipt in the section on the Russian language and writing: the original edition of the XVIII century — the Life of saints in the Church Slavonic language. This monument of spiritual literature reflects not only a religious tradition, but also the deep influence of Church Slavonic writing on the development of the Russian language,-the press service of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of Crimea said.
The new interactive stand “Languages of living creatures” will show how plants, insects and animals exchange information — chemically, tactile, visually and sound signals. How the quorum instinct works in bacteria, how ants build complex routes with the help of pheromones, and how the trees “warn” each other about danger — all this can be learned more about the new museum stand.
Also in the museum appeared a VR periscope. It will help to go to different natural conditions — from the wet jungle of the Amazon to the snowy peaks of the Caucasus.
As the director of the museum, Yevgeny Gavrilov, noted, the exposition helps to hear how nature affects the sound of languages, since the acoustics of the environment forms how people say. The museum exposition is a trip deep into the sounding matter of the language.
