The Museum of the History of the City of Simferopol will present the exhibition “Magic Land”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The exhibition of paintings “Magic Land” by the Honored Artist of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Larisa Sergeevna Sergeeva will be held at the Museum of the History of the City of Simferopol from March 15 to April 23, 2024. This is the 80th personal exhibition of the artist, incl. The 36th in Crimea and the 3rd in the Museum of the History of the City of Simferopol are timed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Crimean Spring.
The transmission of the image is the main thing that is contained in the paintings of Larisa Sergeeva. She received ample training for this in her youth. At the same time she studied at the Yalta Art School. F. Vasilyeva and received music lessons. For six years, she combined stage performances in ballet productions and starring in dramatic performances, and starred in one of the main roles in the feature film “Friends and Comrades” directed by V. Pavlovsky. In 1970, Larisa graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute, Faculty of Applied Arts.
In Crimean publications (A. Palchikova, E. Zorina, M. Krasnova) it is noted. Larisa Sergeeva is Crimean, so all her works are imbued with love for Crimea. Standing in front of the paintings, you feel the breath of the warm Crimean breeze, feel the small splashes of the Black Sea, and the sweet smell of ripe fruits. Landscapes and still lifes decorate the exhibition halls of museums.
Of course, visits to Crimea inspire us to create landscapes. Particularly pleasing are the magical streets of old Yalta, which sometimes turn into steep staircases, cozy courtyards full of flowers and greenery, stone parapets and houses that have preserved the features of the unique local architecture of the south coast of the mid-19th century. These dear corners are included in a hiking album or immediately turned into landscapes filled with the joyful excitement of the author.
Crimean landscapes are distinguished by delicate, light colors. This is a region with very harmonious nature. Larisa Sergeeva’s favorite picturesque images are stairs, alleys, and the sea. We can talk about the predominance of the urban landscape over free nature. The artist, in her words, “is not interested in nature as a whole, she is attracted to individual moments.” She “puts” what she sees on the canvas, having previously created a picture in her imagination. Landscape works are pleasing to the eye. These are bright paintings dedicated to the beloved Crimea and Yalta — the city of sunny childhood. The artist herself says about her landscapes: “For me, landscape is always a certain state of mind. I paint all my paintings with my heart.” And indeed, looking at the pictures, a wave of emotions covers your head. This is bright romance.
The paintings are based on a beautiful combination of colors and a mass of shades — from light transparent to rich dark ones. You admire the subtlest nuances, and the words “Oh, painting! Bright music of the eyes! You are beautiful!».
Indeed, if an artist was able to see this magical color vibration in nature, this harmony, and convey it in his works using his own, unique means, always coming only from the heart, that’s wonderful!
In large still lifes painted in watercolor, the image is created by color and tone. For example, an elegant color scheme subtly conveys the atmosphere of a frosty day outside the window and a beautiful bouquet in a vase on a windowsill covered with a plastically draped tablecloth, or how the rich tones of blue and green backgrounds emphasize bright flowers.
In works done in dry pastel, there is basically a different approach to creating an image: here it is not only color — the expressiveness of the line and rhythmic structure plays a big role. First of all, a rather dense “thick” line indicates the outline of the main subject of the still life. It becomes the center of the composition, and all the details flow towards it in a certain rhythmic sequence. Objects filling a still life are subject to the movement of a smooth line, like all color spots.
Here, in the land of sunny Yalta, a completely new genre of fine art was born — exposition — graphic works from nature, with a warm smile, conveying images in a grotesque manner with the aim of stirring up the viewer, distracting from the routine and monotony of everyday life. Beach images and street scenes leave no one indifferent.
