The new head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Tikhon, was met in Simferopol

On October 21, in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral of the city of Simferopol, the Crimean bishops, clergy and flock met the new head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea, appointed by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on October 11, 2023.
How reports press service of the Crimean Metropolis, at the entrance to the main church of the southern capital, the dear archpastor was greeted with a loaf of bread and flowers by the small parishioners of the cathedral — students of the Educational Center named after St. Gury of Tauride. Next, a thanksgiving prayer took place.
Let us note that the ceremony was attended by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov and the Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev, as well as Metropolitan Lazar. He addressed the newly appointed head of the Crimean Metropolis and the flock.
Dear fathers, brothers and sisters! On this day I want to urge all of you to be good assistants to Metropolitan Tikhon in his work on the land of ancient Tauris, so that it flourishes with churches and monasteries, new missionary projects, and most of all grows with a new flock of young people, for whom you, Vladyka, will be a good helmsman path to the Kingdom of Heavensaid Vladyka Lazar.
He presented Metropolitan Tikhon with a panagia with the image of the holy noble prince Alexander Nevsky.
In turn, His Eminence Metropolitan Tikhon cordially thanked everyone for the warm welcome and good wishes, expressing his firm intention to continue and increase the spiritual achievements of his predecessors at the Crimean bishopric, especially noting the truly epoch-making works of the retired Metropolitan Lazar, who ruled the Simferopol and Crimean diocese for more than thirty years :
It is impossible to overestimate this contribution to the life of the people. Your life is beautiful and happy, because the Lord has given you and everyone who works with you great happiness — to be the creator and co-creator of the Salvation of millions of people.
Bishop Tikhon donated the bishop’s panagia to Metropolitan Lazar, and the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God to the main church of Simferopol.
I would like to ask you, dear Vladika Lazar and Vladika Plato, to be my mentors and spiritual benefactors in multiplying your endeavors. I would ask the archpastors to continue the work for which you have been directed throughout your life, through your ascetic activity, and to do this together with everyone,” noted the head of the Crimean Metropolis.
He gave his archpastoral blessing to the clergy and laity, accepting congratulations and good wishes from his new flock.
I feel a sense of reverence for this land, love for it. Crimea is a special love for all of Russia. I take up my duties with a sense of responsibility and hope in the Lord— Vladyka Tikhon emphasized.
According to church tradition, many years were proclaimed, performed by the Bishop’s male choir (regent — Protodeacon Anthony Maruschak). At the end of the prayer service, Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea prayerfully venerated the relics of St. Gury (Karpov).
