The New Year tree is already being installed in Simferopol. And again a new one

Despite solution on the ban on mass New Year and Christmas events in Crimea, preparations for the holidays have already begun in the cities of the peninsula. At a minimum, central streets, parks and public gardens will be spruced up, utility workers will install illumination, photo zones and Christmas trees will be installed. In Simferopol, on Lenin Square, the frame of the New Year’s beauty is already being installed. The main news is that the city tree is brand new, not “last year’s”.

Head of Simferopol Administration Mikhail Afanasyev explained:

Friends! As the Head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Valerievich Aksenov, has already said, there are no plans to hold large events in honor of the New Year and Christmas in the republic. The main priority is safety. Holidays in a limited format will be held for little Simferopol residents. And, of course, we will do everything necessary to create a festive mood for Simferopol residents. The city will be decorated for the upcoming holidays. This work has already begun: installation of the Christmas tree has already begun on the main square of the Crimean capital. According to tradition, we plan to open it on St. Nicholas Day, December 19.

I would like to note that this year a new Christmas tree will be installed on Lenin Square, and last year’s will decorate the area opposite the railway station, near the reconstructed square named after. Lenin. As for illumination and photo zones, as in previous periods, they will be installed throughout the city. Traditionally, we are preparing to decorate the city center, Kuibyshev Square. The remaining locations are still in the approval stage.

It is not known how much the new city tree costs, but it was purchased for extra-budgetary money. Who and why helped the city (and how much they paid) has not yet been reported. By the way, repeats itself exactly the story of 2020 — both with the new tree and with the “old” one that moved to the station.
