The North Crimean Canal will, of course, become shallow, but Crimea will not remain without water
CrimeaPRESS reports:
One of the consequences of the terrorist explosion of the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is a decrease in the supply of water to the North Crimean Canal. Already yesterday, the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir dropped below the “dead point” and amounted to 12.5 meters (data from Ukrhydroenergo). One way or another, the water supply to the North Crimean Canal depends on the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir. So far, no obvious decrease in the water level in the canal has been recorded in Crimea, but .. this is a matter of time.
Can the dam be repaired? As fantastic as it sounds, it’s possible. But not now. Under the conditions of ongoing shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, no repair and restoration work is possible. The supply of water to the North Crimean Canal will resume, but only after the gate area on the Kakhovka reservoir leaves the zone of fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The channel will really grow shallow in 10-12 days. We will take a number of technical steps, but this will be only after all this territory leaves the enemy artillery strike zone. Accordingly, then it will be possible technically to do it. I can say that it will not be difficult to supply water to the North Crimean Canal. Therefore, Crimea will be with water, one way or another. And in this part, the Crimeans do not have to worry, the situation is temporary.— Said the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksyonov on the air of the Krym 24 kagal.
The fact that Crimea will not be left without water is also confirmed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.
The situation with the Kakhovskaya HPP will not affect water supply, namely drinking water, because Crimea is completely autonomously provided with water in our country. For the past two years, on behalf of the President, we have been very actively engaged in this: we have created additional communication channels between reservoirs, we have drilled all possible underground sources, and provided additional water flow from underground sources. Plus, frankly, the weather helped.— Khusnullin said on the air of the Russia 1 TV channel.
According to him, the water reserves in the reservoirs of the peninsula will last for 500 days.
