CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, together with the Russian Paralympic Committee and the Russian Ministry of Sports, launched the final All-Russian complex physical culture event “Defenders of the Fatherland Cup” in Sirius. Sevastopol is represented in this competition by the silver medalist of the V Interregional Tournament “Defenders of the Fatherland Cup” among Northern Military District veterans in bullet shooting Alexey Pris.
Thanks to sports, the wards of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation are able to cope with serious injuries, return to peaceful life and conquer new heights. Thus, veterans prove by their example that sport is the best rehabilitation and socialization, – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the head of the Sevastopol branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, Elena Anisimova.
Over the course of three days, more than 200 Northern Military District veterans from 62 regions of the country will compete in sitting volleyball, shooting, archery, table tennis, powerlifting and arm wrestling.
The competitions are held with the participation of the Russian Paralympic Committee, which not only helps organize the championships, but also invites veterans of special military operations to the training events of the Russian national teams, held at the best federal bases of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
Today we can safely say that the participation of veterans of special military operations in competitions has become an integral part of the Russian Paralympic movement. Already, about 300 SVO participants have achieved significant success in adaptive sports and joined the national teams of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. There are successes at national championships and cups. The winners and runners-up are included in the national teams. There are already such athletes in wheelchair fencing, sitting volleyball, kayaking and canoeing, and they will be in other sports as well.– notes the President of the Russian Paralympic Committee Pavel Rozhkov.
Let us remind you that the “Defenders of the Fatherland Cup” is an interregional sports championship among veterans of the Northern Military District with disabilities. It is carried out with the aim of rehabilitating veterans and involving them in the Paralympic movement. This year, five interregional “Defenders of the Fatherland Cups” were held: in Kuzbass, Bashkortostan, Kaluga Region, Khabarovsk and Stavropol Territories. Each one was attended by veterans from one or two federal districts. Their winners gathered at the final championship in Sirius.
