The owner of “factories, newspapers, ships”… Sevastopol businessman Sergei Kondratevsky passed away

CrimeaPRESS reports:

On September 26, 2023, entrepreneur and public figure Sergei Kondratevsky (Shuriga), a millionaire from the 90s, the owner of the collapsed “Church Bank”, in which half of the residents of Sevastopol were counting on fabulous interest on deposits, died. The death of 58-year-old Sergei Kondratevsky was reported on social networks by the former head of the administration of Sevastopol and at some time an ally of the deceased, Ivan Ermakov. According to him, Sergei Kondratevsky left a noticeable mark in Sevastopol with his actions in the development of entrepreneurship and business. In this he was the first.

At the same time, notes «Sevastopol newspaper», Ivan Ermakov lists the first private enterprises of Sevastopol, created by Sergei Kondratevsky: a department store, a bakery, a ship, banks, insurance companies, a charitable foundation, an airline, trading houses, a palace of culture, a newspaper editorial office… In 1994, Sergei Kondratevsky was officially considered the richest man on the peninsula, owner of “factories, newspapers, ships.” In addition, he was an active participant in the public life of the city, was elected as a people’s deputy of Crimea and Ukraine, and tried to get into the Sevastopol parliament, which for several years had a deputy bloc named after him.

Ivan Ermakov also recalls how everything happened in the 90s — with mistakes and miscalculations:

But charity and helping people, and even one’s hometown, outweighed everything elsesays Ivan Ermakov.

He recalls the free distribution of apartments to the needy, the daily free distribution of bread to pensioners and low-income people, the provision of material assistance to the poor and the construction of a temple — meaning a chapel on Sapun Mountain.

The further fate of Sergei Kondratevsky was not easy and was already outside Sevastopol. He was elected as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, taken into custody in Kyiv, then released on personal guarantee, and the criminal prosecution was abolished years ago. He lived in the Czech Republic and Moscow. In 2015 and 2017, he again appeared in the information space of Crimea: first, border guards did not let him into the Russian peninsula from Ukraine, then Sergei Kondratevsky tried to develop agribusiness near Bakhchisarai, Foros and Alushta.
