The Palace of Children and Youth Creativity of Sevastopol began the marathon “100 Years of Creativity”

In the auditorium of the state institution of additional education of Sevastopol «Palace of Children’s and Youth Creativity» a festive concert was held dedicated to the birthday of the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity and the solemn countdown ceremony before the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the institution «100 Years of Creativity».

The countdown ceremony launched the “100 Years of Creativity” marathon, which will consist of 100 significant events throughout the pre-anniversary period.

The Palace of Pioneers, as many townspeople call the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity, is a legendary institution. The palace is the flagship of additional education, it is a trendsetter in the field of raising children. The palace is a big family that unites generations. Many grandparents, mothers and fathers bring their children and grandchildren here and remember their activities in circles, share memories with their children, discuss what the palace was like many years ago and now. Memories bring families together. Today Sevastopol celebrates the 99th anniversary of the palace. This is 99 years of happiness, children’s laughter, creativity, bright victories. This year before the centenary anniversary will be full of holidays, concerts, festivals and competitions. Pupils of creative associations created a festive atmosphere for all participants in the celebration and introduced the viewer to the diversity of the creative potential of Children’s Youth and Youth Children’s Theater as an institution of additional education.

More than 100 students and more than 200 spectators took part in the concert in honor of the birthday and start of the marathon — parents of our students, honored guests, representatives of public organizations of the city, veterans — teachers of the palace, students of creative associations. Now more than five thousand Sevastopol boys and girls aged from 5 to 18 years study in the palace. There are 38 creative associations of various directions in the palace: fine arts, choreography, artistic expression, KVN, every child can find something to do to their liking, – notes DDYuT director Alexander Osokin.

During the regional marathon “100 Years of Creativity” many events will take place.

There will be a competition of poems and songs about the palace, a competition-exhibition of drawings “We dedicate to you, the Palace”, a flash mob competition “Light up, Palace”, a program of performances by the best creative teams of the palace at various venues in the city, an online campaign “Good day, my Palace” , dedicated to dynasties, graduate teachers, veterans, the traditions of our beloved palace, and other exciting events for children, parents, teachers, and all residents of Sevastopol. Anyone who has visited the palace at least once will keep it in their hearts forever.,” emphasizes Deputy Director of the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity Natalya Zagorodnyaya.

The date of birth of the Palace of Children’s and Youth Creativity is considered to be April 22, 1925, when the Central Pioneer Club was created in Sevastopol in the premises of a former store on Lenin Street opposite the House of Officers, where the training of pioneer leaders, correspondents, and senior leaders began in circles. The Central Pioneer Club also held amateur evenings. It was then that the foundation of the system of additional education of today was laid in Sevastopol.

After the Great Patriotic War, Sevastopol was rebuilt. The city grew, and there were more people willing to participate in various circles. In 1953, the city decided to give children one of the most beautiful architectural structures — the building of the Institute of Physical Methods of Treatment named after I.M. Sechenov. The war-damaged palace was being restored by the entire city. The institution was opened on April 22, 1962.
