Commentary by the Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Aksenov in connection with the 370th anniversary of the Pereyaslav Rada.
Today we celebrate the 370th anniversary of the Pereyaslav Rada, which for centuries has become a symbol of the unity of the peoples of the Russian world, their common historical destiny and civilizational path.
Enemies have always tried to divide us. The means used for this have not changed for centuries. This is direct military aggression, and deception, lies, betrayal, bribery. The result of the renunciation of the heritage of the Pereyaslav Rada also remained unchanged. It has always led to chaos and degradation, giving birth to miscarriages of history, such as Mazepa, Petliura, Bandera, and now their modern followers.
According to our President, Ukraine itself is not our enemy. The enemies are those who want to destroy Russian statehood. For them, the people of Ukraine are only a tool to achieve this goal. Therefore, it is symbolic that today, on the fronts of the Northern Military District, former soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the volunteer battalion named after Bohdan Khmelnitsky are fighting alongside our soldiers.
The path of the Pereyaslav Rada is the path of our common Victory!
