The perpetrator of a fatal “maritime accident” has been taken into custody in Crimea. The Investigative Committee is investigating
CrimeaPRESS reports:
We have already reported about this incident on the water — HERE — in Crimea, in the waters of Sudak Bay, a catamaran and a jet ski collided, killing a person.
The Main Investigation Department of the RF Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol opened a criminal case against a 32-year-old resident of the Rostov region, who arrived on vacation in Sudak. Investigative bodies suspect him of violating traffic safety rules and operating water transport while intoxicated, which negligently resulted in the death of a person (Part 2.1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)— reported in Sledkom.
The Crimean Investigation Department for Transport established that on the afternoon of September 24, a Rostov resident, while driving a jet ski in a drunken state in the waters of the sea near the city of Sudak, exceeded the speed and allowed him to hit a catamaran with a 53-year-old resident of the Krasnodar Territory on board. As a result of the collision, the latter suffered injuries incompatible with life.
All necessary initial investigative actions were carried out at the scene of the tragedy, and a number of examinations were ordered. The suspect is currently detained. The investigation is preparing to go to court with a petition for election in relation to his preventive measure,” noted the Sledkom.
The criminal investigation continues.
