The photo exhibition «Our Gagarin» was presented at the Artek International Children's Center

A photo exhibition «Our Gagarin» dedicated to the first cosmonaut of the planet has opened at the Artek International Children’s Center. The project was prepared by the Museum-Reserve Yu.A. Gagarin, the Crimean branch of the Russian Society for Friendship with Cuba and Artek. The exposition presents more than unique photographs by Yuri Gagarin. In the pictures — the main milestones of his life. Some frames show the first cosmonaut as a hero, a professional and a patriot, others as a family man among loved ones. Some of the works are devoted to pages of history that are not widely known to Artek residents — this is Gagarin’s activity as president of the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Society. The spectators of the exhibition for the first time saw photographs depicting his visits to Cuba, meetings with the Cuban people.

It is symbolic that we are opening an exhibition dedicated to Gagarin in Artek, where the world’s first cosmonautics museum operates. Irina Kiviko presented Artek residents and the Cosmos Museum with a new exhibit — the album First: Gagarin and Cuba. Alexey Andrutsky, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Youth Policy of the Republic of Crimea, also congratulated the participants of the exhibition.

Yuri Gagarin is the personification of Russian progress, the achievements of a huge number of people who created something unique for the good of the Motherland. “Today we learned that when Gagarin flew to Cuba, thousands of people met him in the pouring rain. I think this is an amazing personality, he deserves such a memory of himself. I have already been to the Cosmos Museum, and the exhibition is a great addition to the tour, ”says Kira Titova from the Moscow region.

“There are a lot of shots at the exhibition that I have never seen before. You probably won’t see them anywhere! Judging by these photographs, I imagine Gagarin as a kind, sympathetic man who loved his country,” says Sofia Kozoriz from Sevastopol.
