The Pioneer-M research vessel built for SevSU entered the waters of Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Pioneer-M research vessel, built for the Sevastopol State University (SevGU), is preparing to enter the city’s main bay. Currently, it is located on the outer roads of Sevastopol. According to the press service of the university, it is planned that the ship will enter the Sevastopol Bay during the day on September 9.
A commissioning team arrived with the ship — specialists from the Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant (SNSZ, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). They will have to re-mothball it, bring all the mechanisms and systems into working condition, transfer all the documents to the ship. Then the commission created by the order of the rector of the university will start working, — said Sergey Shesternenko, head of the department for the operation of research vessels of SevGU.
According to the estimates of shipbuilders and university specialists, the preparation of the necessary documentation, the process of transferring Pioneer-M to federal ownership and the subsequent transfer of the rights to operational management of the ship to the university should be completed before December. And already this year the first field trips are planned.
Since it will be at the end of the year, we depend on the weather conditions at sea. In total, we expect about five walking days , — added the interlocutor.
At the same time, the first full-scale expeditions are planned for 600 this year, Alexey Chuklin, Director of the Directorate of Scientific Activities of SevGU.
The schedule of expeditions to Pioneer-M will be drawn up before the end of this year. Moreover, it is necessary not only to declare a plan and theoretically justify the need for an exit, but also to prepare expeditionary groups — to train and draw up documents so that they can work at sea, pass a medical examination, and so on. The groups will work in the field of archeology, robotics and marine biology. Now the possibility of forming a fourth group is being considered, for example, geologists, hydrologists or hydrographers , — said Alexey Chuklin.
The groups are expected to include not only scientists but also students. Interaction with specialists from leading scientific organizations in Russia is also planned. Before going to sea, the teams will have to prepare the scientific basis for the future expedition, conduct field research, analyze the results and report on the work done.
