The police of Sevastopol summed up the results of the first stage of the operational and preventive measures «Poppy-2023»

The complex of anti-drug measures «Poppy» takes place annually in several stages on the territory of 71 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the city of Sevastopol, where climatic conditions favor the growth of drug-containing plants.
The purpose of the preventive operation is the prevention, detection, suppression and disclosure of offenses and crimes in the field of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs of plant origin, the identification and elimination of illegal crops and foci of growth of wild plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors. As part of the first stage of the operational and preventive measure «Poppy-2023», police drug control officers stopped 10 crimes related to the illegal sale, storage and transportation of drugs of natural origin, and more than one kilogram of vegetable drugs was seized from illegal circulation— noted in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Sevastopol.
In addition, during the operation, the police liquidated an online drug store, and also took measures to block five Internet resources used by attackers to distribute drugs of plant origin.
The Sevastopol Police reminds that the illegal cultivation of drug-containing plants entails both administrative — Article 10.5.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and criminal liability — Article 231 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Sanction 10.5.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors” provides for punishment in the form of an administrative fine for citizens in the amount of three to five thousand rubles or administrative arrest for up to fifteen days; for legal entities — from one hundred to three hundred thousand rubles.
For the commission of a criminally punishable act, a fine of up to three hundred thousand rubles is provided, or compulsory work for a period of up to four hundred and eighty hours, or restriction of liberty for a period of up to two years, or imprisonment for the same period. Cultivation, perfect e by a group of persons by prior agreement or on an especially large scale, shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of up to eight years.
